Redding, California the Win-River Casino

We left the snow and cold weather of Wenatchee looking for warmer weather and sunnier skies. The drive to Bend was under cloudy skies and we left Bend the following morning with black ice roadways for a few miles.

Right on cue as we crossed the California line the skies turned blue and sunny. And then a few miles later it started snowing, which turned to heavy rain and so on all the way to Redding. There the skies once again showed some blue and the temperature finally reached 60 degrees.

The first posting of 2010 is of all thing boondocking in a casino parking lot. The Win-River Casino in redding offers overnight parking if you contact the security guard. It is a fairly small lot, but away from the hustle and bustle of the casino. There were two RV's camped there.

The attraction, however, was not the camping, but the $17.99 Sunday brunch. The brunch featured seafood as well as the standard Sunday brunch fare. The casino sits on the banks of Clear Creek. In the spring and summer the outside seating areas is open for dinning and the views of American egrets, ducks, and mergansers. That white spot in the right center of the picture is an American egret. Bring your binoculars to the brunch!

A pretty overlook and a great place for Sunday brunch. The brunch covered breakfast, lunch, and dinner for us. Well, we did have desert for dinner!
